Following feedback from our inaugural series in 2007, we've made some significant changes to ensure 2008 is bigger and better, resulting in more trees in the ground. Key changes are as follows:
Entry Fee
We've partnered with Councils, who are providing trees, enabling us to halve the entry fee to $35!
Public Land
We're holding the 2008 events on public land, so you can enjoy the fruits of your efforts for years to come. Locations are on the outskirts of Auckland, Hamilton and Christchurch, making the events more easily accessible with less emissions required to get there.
Value
As reward for taking part in the Hubbards Carbon Crusade, we're giving every finisher a $15.00 Icebreaker voucher from Bivouac Outdoor, and we'll donate $2.00 to either the Sir Peter Blake Trust (Auckland and Hamilton events) or Trees for Canterbury (Christchurch event).
Event Dates
Format
Participants run or walk the course. Approximately half way around the course, there will be a designated planting area, with pre-dug holes and native plants sitting alongside those holes. Participants plant a specified number of native plants each (Individuals = 4, Families = 8), and then continue to walk/run around the course to the finish line.
