On World Environment Day (5th June 2008), over 600 people took part in a lunchtime 'mini Hubbards Carbon Crusade' in Hamilton. Schoolkids from 15 Hamilton schools, members of the public, along with staff representing various organisations showed they care by fronting up and tackling the 4km course.
Thanks to the efforts of these Crusaders, and the passion and enthusiasm of our partners at Hamilton City Council, over 3000 trees were planted at Waiwhakareke - Hamilton's first Natural Heritage Park. This 60 hectare parkland is being re-established to it's pre-European glory and will be a fantastic facility for all to enjoy the fruits of their labour in years to come.
